Description
The Moat House is a 16th-century timber-framed house that has been divided into two cottages. It features red brick casing and underwent partial rebuilding in the early 19th century. The building is two storeys high and has two ledged doors along with simple early 19th-century casement windows. One of the cottages, No 1, has a plaque from 1940 commemorating the birth of Sir Henry Parkes, who was the Prime Minister of New South Wales, on May 27, 1815. A second plaque from 1950 notes the gift of four bricks from the cottage, with two bricks sent to the Melbourne Museum and two to New Coventry, New South Wales.
