Description
The Church of St Michael is a Grade II* listed building located on Walsgrave Road in Stoke. The church features 14th century west bays of the nave and south aisle, along with a 14th and 15th century west tower. An east extension was added in 1860-61 by James Murray, designed in a 14th century style. The church underwent restoration between 1894 and 1895. Inside, there is a 14th or 15th century octagonal font and a carved piscina, as well as wall tablets from the 18th and early 19th centuries. A late medieval sandstone stoup can be found in the chancel, and there is a finely carved wall monument from 1722 located in the north chapel. The west window features early glass, and a royal hatchment is displayed over the north doorway.
