Description

The buildings at 40 and 42 New Street date from around 1800. They are constructed of red brick and comprise two storeys with four segmental-headed windows, each featuring simple keyblocks. The windows are paired with identical wooden doorcases, each having an open pediment and arched fanlight above. A decorative band runs along the building, and the eaves are detailed with dentilled woodwork. Four box dormers are visible, covered with old tiles. Nos 40 to 44 (even numbers) are arranged as a group.
