Description
Locks 7-14 and the northern basin walls, along with bridges 32 and 33, are part of the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal and date from the early 19th century. The locks feature brick linings and northern walls, with some 20th-century brick patching, and include some stone copings. The upper ends of the locks have single wooden gates, while the lower ends have double wooden gates. The bridges are also from the early 19th century and are constructed of brick, with cast-iron platforms and trellis parapets. They are single arch bridges with brick parapets on the approaches. Each bridge has a split in the middle, allowing the tow-rope to pass from one side of the canal to the other without needing to be unhitched.
