Description

The engine house in Weston Quarry, dated 1823, is constructed from large ashlar sandstone blocks that are integrated into and partially cut into the surrounding rock face. At the time of listing, the building was unroofed and consists of two levels. The front features two 2-light mullioned windows on the first floor, topped by a pediment-gable with coping. A central plaque indicates the date '1823'. There are two doorways on the ground floor, paired on the left side, both with raised surrounds, and an additional entrance on the right side. The opening on the upper level to the left once accommodated the arm of the beam engine.
