Description
The Royal Oak Hotel, formerly known as the Royal Oak Inn, is an early 19th-century building located on the south side of High Street in Eccleshall. It is constructed of red brick with a sham-painted timber frame and features two storeys plus an attic. The ground floor is distinguished by a colonnade supported by five segmental arched bays. The windows are modern transomed casement types with leaded lights. The building has moulded brick eaves, brick-coped gables, and a tiled roof. On the right-hand side, there is a recessed wing that includes a wide carriageway below and three sash windows above, which are set in moulded stone architraves and topped with a dentilled brick pediment. Additionally, there is a long rear wing that extends along the return side on Swan Lane.
