Description

The Tunstall is a farmhouse dating from around the 18th century, with remodeling that occurred in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of painted Flemish bond brick and features a clay plain tile hipped roof, along with a gable-ended rear wing. The building has brick axial and gable-end stacks.

The layout includes a front range with an entrance hall located to the right of the center, and a rear wing extending from the center and right end. The house appears to have been raised to three storeys and the rear wing extended during the mid-19th century.

The exterior consists of three storeys with an asymmetrical south front featuring one window on the left and three windows on the right. The windows include 12-pane sashes with cambered brick arches on the ground and first floors, and 9-pane sashes on the second floor, all equipped with stone cills. There are brick platbands below the first-floor windows and above the second-floor window cill level. A 19th-century brick porch is located to the right of the center, adorned with stuccoed pilasters. The end walls display platbands and an original brick dentil eaves course. At the rear, there is a gable-ended wing to the left of center, which has an outshut on the left and a short extension on the gable end.

Inside, the staircase features a panelled square newel, along with panelled doors and doorcase reveals, and panelled window shutters. The left (east) room is characterized by chamfered ceiling beams.

The property also includes front garden area walls made of brick with stone coping, iron railings above, and a foot-gate with urn finials on the posts.
