Description
Portway House is an 18th century brick house located on Wellington Plough Road. It features a plain tile roof with coped gable ends, a moulded stone cornice, and a blocking course. The building is three storeys tall, with the second floor either rebuilt or added in the 19th century, which includes three sash windows. The first floor has five closely spaced segmental arched sash windows without glazing bars. The ground floor mirrors this with four similar windows and a central doorway that has panelled pilasters and a hood supported by curved brackets. The doorway also features a rectangular fanlight with geometric tracery and a glazed door. A brick string course runs at first floor level. There is a late 19th century one bay brick addition at the left-hand (west) end.
