Description
Stone Water Point is a village tap built in the mid-19th century, specifically dated to 184?. Constructed from sandstone ashlar, it features a Gothic arch design. The outer course consists of voussoirs with a chamfered surround, leading to an inner chamfered arch that provides cover for the water supply, with the tap mounted on the rear wall. The date 184? is set under another carved arch, along with the worn arms of the Boyne family, who donated this structure to the village. This is a very unusual and notable example of a covered structure related to the supply of water in rural areas.
