Description

The Church of St Peter is a striking and spacious building that underwent significant restoration by F & H Francis in 1861. The tower features a tall stone spire and the church primarily dates from the 14th century, although there are remnants of earlier work at the west end. The roofs were replaced in the 19th century. Inside, there is a restored late medieval screen and a 15th-century font. Notable monuments include those dedicated to Sir George Bromley, who died in 1588, and Sir Edward Bromley, who died in 1626. The church is part of a group that includes premises occupied by Mr C D Russell, Nos 4 to 7 (consecutive), Crow Cottage, Nos 9 to 12 (consecutive), and The Club House.
