Description

These are a pair of mid-19th century red-brick buildings located on the south side of St Mary’s Street in Bridgnorth. They are of single storey and attic construction. The front of the buildings has three recessed panels with corbelled courses, and contains two two-light mullioned windows with stone sills that extend as bands across the façade. A central covered way features a pointed-arched head and a moulded stone cornice hood. The eaves are corbelled and brick, with tile covering.

Number 39, which connects to the rear of number 38, is a 17th-century timber-framed building with plaster cladding, comprising two storeys. It has two old casement windows with leaded lights and two simple doorways.

It is likely that the buildings were originally constructed as almshouses. Numbers 34 to 46 form a group.
