Description

The Parish Hall, originally probably the church ale house, later serving as a school, is now a parish hall. It dates from around the late 15th or early 16th century, with extensions added in 1674 and a 19th-century restoration. The building is timber-framed with a tiled roof and gable ends. It features a stone plinth, and the upper floor oversails the ground floor. There are moulded bressumers supported by carved brackets and octagonal shafts on the angle posts. A restored moulded stringcourse runs along the middle of the upper storey. Restored wood mullion and transom windows have cusped heads. A projecting north wing was added around 1674. The rebuilt chimney stack incorporates a stone inscribed "Church Wardens, Richard Turner, William Bullock, 1674." The building is part of a notable group with the church, a lychgate, Church Cottage, the Rectory, the wall and stables.
