Description
The Church of St Mary, located in Much Cowarne, dates back to the early 13th century. It features a nave, chancel, west tower, south aisle, south porch, and north vestry. The west tower exhibits a mix of Norman and Early English styles. The nave, built in the 13th century, has a south arcade, while the north arcade is blocked and the north aisle has been demolished. The south aisle likely dates from the 14th century. The chancel, constructed in the late 13th century, includes a late 14th-century east window. The late 13th-century north vestry is also part of the structure. Notable monuments include a 13th-century stone effigy of a knight and two significant early 17th-century monuments. The church underwent restoration in 1873.
