Description

Hope Farmhouse is a 16th-century timber-frame building, with the north end rebuilt in the 18th century using painted brick. The frame is faced with roughcast, and the roof is slate with gable ends. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has six sash windows. A prominent two-storey gabled porch is on the east front, featuring oak posts and shaped brackets supporting the projecting upper storey, with turned balusters on the sides and a moulded bressummer to the upper storey. Inside, there is a 17th-century staircase. The roof is a queen-post roof, retaining some earlier timbers. The farmhouse, along with the barns to the south and west, forms a notable group.
