Description

The Leys is a 17th century timber-frame cottage located in Stanford Bishop. It features square panels of brick and plaster, with a stone rubble plinth and a machine tile roof that has gabled ends. The first floor was heightened and the roof raised in the 18th century. The cottage has two storeys and two later casement windows. At one end, there is a large rubble chimney stack with an oven-bulge, and a lean-to is present at the rear. Inside, the cottage showcases exposed chamfered ceiling beams and joists, along with exposed timber-framing on both floors.
