Description

The Roman Catholic Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, built between 1908 and 1915 and designed by architect F. Walters, is a notable example of Norman style architecture. Constructed from stone, it features corbelled eaves and graduated slate roofs. The building has decorative bands and horizontal bands that create the appearance of recessed panels around the windows. It includes three eastern apses, with the central apse displaying a blind arcaded band beneath the windows. A large tower is situated at the southeast, topped with a short spire. All windows are round arched, making this church a prominent landmark in this part of Ashby.
