Description
The Royal Hotel, built around 1826, features a facade and south end constructed of red brick with stone dressings, while the rest of the building is made of stone. It stands three storeys tall, with the outer bays advanced and topped by segmental pediments. The building has quoins and a moulded cornice at the first floor, along with a moulded cornice and parapet above a recessed centre cornice that extends across the end pediments. The roof is not visible. There are nine windows in the center, set in moulded architraves, although alternate windows are blocked. Each of the outer bays contains one window with three lights. The windows are sashes with glazing bars. The centre features a giant porch with a cornice hood supported by coupled Greek Doric columns, from which the fluting has been removed.
