Description

The Bakers Arms Public House is a public house that was formerly a dwelling, dating from the late 16th century to the early 17th century. It is timber framed, with the front wall and south gable faced in brick, and features a thatched roof. The building is one and a half storeys tall with a long plan and consists of five bays of timber framing, each divided into three panels visible on the rear wall, which has straight arched bracing at the principal posts. There is some herringbone brick panel infill.

On the rear wall, there is a doorway to the left, followed by two casement windows and another doorway. The end bay is concealed by later additions. The building has two steeply gabled dormers with three-light casement windows and one eyebrow dormer. The gables are coped and corbelled out.

In the front wall, to the right of the doorway, there is one bay containing a three-light horizontally sliding sash window with small panes. The three central bays have casement windows, and there is another doorway beyond. The left-hand bays feature two-light horizontally sliding sash windows with small panes. Above the left-hand bays, there is a single eyebrow dormer, and two casement windows are located below the eaves. The building has gable and axial stacks.
