Description

The Eagle Club, formerly known as Newbold School and Schoolhouse, was built in 1861 and enlarged in 1887 and 1898 to include a schoolmaster's house. The building is constructed of rusticated coursed stone with a plinth and features a steeply pitched roof covered with banded fishscale and plain slates.

The façade has two steeply pitched gables that contain large four-light windows, with the center two lights featuring tall cusped arches, mullions, and a transom. Above each window is a blank trefoil. On the south side, there are large doors beneath a modern canopy, situated below a window. Between the two gables are two small gabled dormers that contain Gothic windows, which extend through the eaves. A low buttress is positioned at the center of the building.

To the east is the schoolhouse, which completes the range. It has a half-hipped roof with a stone chimney on the western side. The schoolhouse is two storeys high and has two windows. The first-floor windows are two-light Gothic arched, unbarred sashes, while the ground floor windows have flattened cusped arches. A corner buttress is present, and to the east, there is a recessed round-arched stone porch.
