Description

This is a bollard located at the west end of Swan Street in Leeds, dating from the mid-19th century. It is made of cast iron and stands approximately 0.45 meters high, with its base set in concrete below the current pavement level. The bollard has a baluster shape featuring a triple roll-moulded waist and a flared, roll-moulded top topped with a ball finial. Identical bollards can be found in Neptune Street and Hirst's Yard, Briggate. This particular bollard likely dates from the rebuilding of the area by Charles Thornton between 1865 and 1875.
