Description
The wall and gate piers located at the rear of numbers 23 and 25 Great George Street in Leeds were built in the mid-19th century. Constructed from gritstone and ashlar, the wall is approximately 15 meters long and 2.5 meters high, featuring a flat coping and a gateway positioned to the left of center. The gate piers are made from large gritstone ashlar blocks, have a square section, and are topped with pedimented capstones, making them slightly taller than the wall itself. This structure was built to secure the rear yard area of the premises of Schunk, Souchay and Co, international stuff and yarn merchants. The wall and gate piers are included for their group value.
