Description
Wooldale Methodist Church is a chapel built around 1830, with an addition made between 1880 and 1890. The building is constructed from hammer dressed stone, with the addition featuring pitch faced stone. It has a stone slate roof, with blue slates used on the addition. The church has gable copings and ashlar stacks.
The main hall is a simple structure with five bays, which includes four round arched windows that have keystones and impost blocks. There is a stone porch at the end bay, featuring a moulded cornice and blocking course. The later addition is oriented at a right angle and consists of a six-bay hall with round arched windows.
The gable front has a stepped and scrolled parapet, topped with a scrolled pediment at the apex, and ball finials on the kneelers. There is a central oculus with a hood mould and keystone, along with a central three-light round headed window, flanked by single round headed lights on each side, all featuring marginal coloured glazing and a continuous hood mould.
