Description
Wheat Royd is a house located on Kaye Lane, with its origins traced back to a structure shown on Senior's Map of Almondbury Parish from 1634. The north front of the building dates from the 18th century or early 19th century and is constructed from hammer-dressed stone, topped with a pitched stone slate roof. It features four ranges of sash windows with glazing bars and two doors, each consisting of four moulded panels. The south front displays three stepped blocks, with the south-west block being from the late 19th century. The central block is from the 18th century or early 19th century and includes a three-light stone mullioned window on the first floor, while the rest of the windows are casements. The north-east block is from the 18th century and has two three-light stone mullioned windows on the first floor, along with a bipartite sash window on the ground floor. This block also features a door with five fielded panels. Additionally, there is a barn to the west, with an extension that appears to be from the 18th or 19th century.
