Description

These are a row of townhouses on Fitzwilliam Street, dating from the mid-19th century. They are built of ashlar stone, with pitched slate roofs and a moulded eaves cornice running along the top. Each house has two storeys, with a range of two sash windows. The front doors vary: Nos 109 and 111 have two fielded panels, No 113 has four fielded panels, and No 115 has four moulded panels. Nos 109 and 111 have door frames with Tuscan pilasters and a full entablature; No 109 has a plain cast iron railing leading up four steps, and No 111 has a railing leading up three steps. No 113’s door has a fanlight with glazing bars, and plain cast iron railings leading up four steps. Nos 115, 117, and 119 have door frames with Ionic pilasters, with plain cast iron railings and four steps to each. This group value recognises their contribution to the character of Fitzwilliam Street.
