Description
Wood Royd Methodist Church is a simple, rectangular chapel built in 1840, with a Sunday School at the rear. It is constructed of hammer dressed stone and features a half hipped slate roof supported by moulded stone brackets. The main elevation faces east and includes a central double door with six panels, fielded upper panels, and a round arched fanlight with radial glazing bars. Flanking the door are large stained glass windows, each with a round arch, key, and impost blocks. The pediment above has ashlar coping and an oculus with radial glazing bars, with a central inscription that reads: "BETHEL CHAPEL 1840."
The west elevation is two storeys high and consists of three bays. There is a stained glass window on the first floor, while the ground floor features the entrance and two single lights with glazing bars. To the north and south of the chapel are later additions, with the southern addition including a round arched stained glass window.
