Description
Nos 75 to 79 on Birkby Hall Road are a pair of 18th-century houses built from hammer-dressed stone with pitched stone slate roofs. They feature 19th-century bargeboarded gables and stand two storeys tall. The windows have double recessed frames, chamfered mullions, and simple hoodmoulds. The front of Nos 77 and 79 includes two sets of three-light windows and one single-light window above each door. The door of No 77 has a chamfered surround and a lintel with a four-centred arch that reads "George Gamble Anno Dom. 1719". No 79's door also has a chamfered surround and a flat lintel, displaying an achievement of arms and the initials "G G" in decorative lettering. At the rear of Nos 77 and 79, there is one range of three-light and one range of two-light stone mullioned windows, along with a single-light window on the ground floor and a two-light window on the first floor of the side elevation. No 75 may have been added in the 19th century but features windows that match the style of the others.
