Description

The gates to Home Cottage are a late 17th-century feature that were relocated around 1900. Made of wrought iron, the gates consist of a central decorative gate with ornate cresting, flanked by two tall square openwork gate piers topped with crowns. On either side of the central gate are additional panels that share a similar design. These gates were originally part of the elaborate formal gardens that surrounded Sprotbrough Hall, which was associated with the Copley family.
