Description

The village pump, located immediately to the east of number 41 on Main Street in Sprotbrough, dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of deeply-coursed, squared limestone and features a cast-iron pump. The remains of the pump shaft are accompanied by a cuboidal stone bucket platform, which is set in a gabled recess flanked by projecting side piers. Above the pump, there is a sandstone slab with the Copley arms carved into it, and the piers and gable are adorned with a moulded cornice.
