Description

The chimney at the Works and Services Depot of York City Council is a Grade II listed structure built around 1890. It is a refuse destructor chimney made of red brick laid in English bond and English garden-wall bond, with a cream brick necking and an ashlar base. The chimney features a tapering octagonal shaft that has a moulded base resting on a moulded plinth. Above this, there is corbelled brick necking beneath a moulded cornice and a flat cap.
