Description

49 Whitecross Street is a 18th-century building that has been slightly altered in the early 19th century. It stands two storeys high, constructed in stucco with a pantile roof and a moulded eaves cornice. The façade features three flush windows, which are hung sashes with glazing bars. On the ground floor, there are two windows with rusticated lintels that have keystones. The entrance door consists of six fielded panels and is topped by an oblong fanlight with glazing bars. The door is framed by fluted Doric pilasters and an entablature. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 11 to 23 (odd), The Volunteer Inn, and Nos 27 to 37 (odd), with Nos 27 to 33 (odd) being of local interest only.
