Description

The threshing barn and stable range, located 50 meters west of Clee Hall Farmhouse, dates from the early 18th century and features a stable flanked by a later 18th-century threshing barn and stable-granary, with subsequent alterations and additions. The building is rectangular in shape and forms the north side of a foldyard.

On the exterior, the south side of the threshing barn has a segmental-arched doorway with three ashlar hinge-blocks and a single diamond-shaped breather above it. There are two tiers of similar breathers to the left and stepped eaves. The earlier three-bay stable to the right has a central door flanked by hatches, each with three panes above wooden louvres, all beneath timber lintels. It features stepped eaves and a steeply-pitched roof with tumbled-in brick at the raised gables. The stable range to the far right contains three stable doors and a single window beneath segmental arches, with a rounded brick corner to the right. The right gable-end has a pair of inserted segmental-arched double doors, a cross-shaped breather, and a pair of iron tie-bar ends in the gable. The left gable-end of the barn has single part-glazed louvred hatches on each floor and a diamond-shaped breather in the gable.

On the north side, the threshing barn has a later outshut at the rear with boarded doors and a boarded-up hatch, as well as an inserted 20th-century garage door. The early stable also has a later outshut, while the stable-granary features a row of small breather holes on the ground floor and a single pitching hatch above with strap hinges. The interior has not been inspected.
