Description
No 2 Market Hill is a mid-19th century building constructed of brown brick with a pitched slate roof. It stands two storeys high with attics. The front features two gables, with the west gable slightly projecting forward and adorned with a barge board and a wooden drop finial. The east gable has a coped, shaped design that culminates in a chimney and includes a plaster shield.
The building has two ranges of sash windows with glazing bars, set in moulded stucco surrounds that have hood moulds. The ground floor windows are fitted with shutters that have moulded panels. The entrance door has six moulded panels and an oblong fanlight, all within a moulded stucco surround that also features a hood mould.
In the gable end, there is a three-light attic window, with the central light positioned higher than the others, also in a moulded stucco surround with a hood mould. The west elevation mirrors the front, featuring one barge-boarded gable and a range of sash windows with glazing bars in moulded surrounds with hood moulds, along with a ground floor window that has shutters with moulded panels and a three-light attic window.
