Description
Nos. 9 to 13 on Souttergate are early to mid 19th century buildings constructed of brown brick with a pitched pantile roof. The gables are coped and supported by ashlar kneelers. The buildings are two storeys high and feature paired brackets under the gutter. There are four ranges of sash windows with glazing bars, and the window heads have channelled stucco voussoirs. Each of the three doors has six fielded and moulded panels, reeded transoms, and oblong fanlights, with No. 9's fanlight including glazing bars. No. 9 also features a slightly bowed shop front with incised panels in the apron, supported by four reeded pilasters that hold reeded consoles leading to a moulded cornice. Additionally, there is a contemporary cast-iron footscraper with an arched head and a mask at the apex.
