Description
The Manor House is a house dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century, with a later outshut, cased in brick, and extended to the rear in the early 18th century. It was refronted around 1840. The building features a timber-frame structure with brick and pantiled roofs. It now has a central direct entry with a rear wing, and it was likely originally designed with a hearth-passage plan. The main elevation consists of three bays and two storeys. The early 19th-century door is situated under an oblong fanlight, supported by consoles and cornice, and is flanked by 4-pane sash windows. The first floor also has identical 4-pane sashes. Inside, the rear wall of the main range retains the full frame, with a small exposed area showing a wall-post with rail, close-studding, raking struts, and brick nogging. There is a pointed timber doorway, now concealed, which may have served as the rear access to the cross-passage.
