Description
Nos 8-10 Prospect Vale are a pair of houses built in the late 19th century. They are constructed of rendered stone, with No 8 featuring a turnerised state and No 10 covered in synthetic slate. The houses are back-to-back in plan and stand two storeys tall, each with end stacks that have moulded caps.
Both houses have a regular three-window front. They feature 20th-century top-opening casements, with the window openings largely unaltered, except for a slight widening of the ground-floor right opening in No 8. The buildings have cornice and sill bands, as well as quoining, all highlighted in black. The windows are set under slightly cambered lintels, and there is a central doorway with all openings in slightly raised surrounds. No 10 has a 20th-century porch.
The end walls display two painted string courses and No 8 has a small end window on the first floor. There is also a lean-to extension that faces away from the roadside. These single back-to-back cottages are rare, and Nos 8-10 form an attractive group with Nos 4-6 and 12-14.
