Description
This is a terrace of five houses located at 17 to 25 Duke Street, built in the late 18th century. The houses are constructed of brick with stone dressings and feature a slate roof. They rise three storeys with a basement, and each house typically has three bays, although No. 25 has only two bays. The windows are fitted with wedge lintels; Nos. 17 and 19 have casement windows, while the others have sash windows. The round-headed entrances in the third bays are adorned with Tuscan aedicules that include only an open pediment. No. 17 features a shop front, a complete fanlight, and a six-panel door. No. 19 also has a complete fanlight. No. 23 includes a shop front, while No. 25 has a pub front and a six-bay return to Campbell Street, which has an altered entrance doorcase and a leaded fanlight.
