Description
Bridge Number 30 on the Peak Forest Canal, located at the junction with the Ashton Canal, was built in 1835, as noted on an inscribed stone. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a segmental arch that carries the tow-path over the canal. The gently inclined tow-path is flanked by parapet walls made of large monolithic slabs, set above a continuous band. The design is both functional and graceful.
