Description

The war memorial, located on the south side of Church Street in Heywood, was created in 1925 by W. Marsden, as indicated on the statue base. It is made of stone and features a bronze female figure holding a palm of victory, which stands atop a pedestal. Behind the figure is a plain shaft that is inscribed to the men of Heywood, flanked by tapering shafts on either side. Low abutments on both sides are adorned with carved wreaths, and the entire structure is set on a stone plinth.
