Description

Underbank Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse constructed of red Flemish bond brickwork, with a slate roof. The building has a four-room plan. The front of the farmhouse has a projecting plinth, likely of later brickwork. It is arranged with three bays symmetrically disposed. The central doorway has a skewback arch and fanlight. Ground and first floor windows on the front are cast-iron casement windows, each with 7 panes over 5 panes, featuring intersecting glazing bars at the top. The original central first-floor window, a 5 x 5 cast-iron casement, has been replaced by two-light wooden casement windows, although the original remains, now used as fencing for a cabbage patch. A ground floor window of 7 x 5 panes with intersecting glazing bars is located on the left-hand reveal. The rear of the farmhouse features similar ground and first floor windows.
