Description
Avenue House, located at No 4 Palace Street East, is a 18th-century building that was enlarged with balconies added in the early 19th century. The exterior is stuccoed and features a stone cornice, parapet, and coping, along with original pedimented attic windows and a doorpiece adorned with Corinthian pilasters and an entablature. The house has an irregular arrangement of four plus one windows across two storeys. Three of the windows are fitted with cast iron balconies that have a Greek honeysuckle pattern and are elliptical in shape. The windows also have moulded architraves, and above one window is a shield of arms. The left side of the house faces Weddell's Lane and includes a side entrance to a separate dwelling.
