Description
Lloyds Bank is a bank building dated 1898, located on Blyth Bridge Street. It features an ashlar front and a Lakeland slate roof. The structure is three storeys high and has five bays arranged in a 2:1:2 rhythm. The ground floor has a plinth and channeled rustication, while there is a moulded band at the first floor. The central entrance consists of renewed doors beneath a plain fanlight set within a round arch, surrounded by Ionic columns and end pilasters, topped by an entablature that carries a cartouche inscribed with the word 'BANK'.
To the right end bay, there is a six-panel door with an overlight, and the ground floor has plate-glass sash windows, all featuring keyed lintels. The first floor contains 15-pane sash windows in architraves with shaped feet, with the central window having a keyed lintel and positioned beneath round-arched cornices. The second floor has altered sash windows in architraves with triple keystones and projecting moulded sills. The eaves cornice is decorated with modillions and an egg-and-dart motif. The building has coped gables and rendered corniced stacks at the left end and ridge.
