No. 40 Eastern Lane is a 18th-century house that is unoccupied as of February 1989. It adjoins and is part of the same group as the shop and house known as 62 Bridge Street. The building is constructed of rubble and has a stuccoed finish with a modern pantiled roof. It has three storeys and features a two-window range facing Eastern Lane, with sash windows on the second floor, while the windows below are boarded. There is a door at the rear, and an additional room is located under a Welsh slate catslide. The interior has not been inspected.
