Description
This bridge, built in 1878, is located over Sipton Burn on the Long Drag, which is a mine road historically used for transporting lead from the Allendale mines to Whitley Chapel and Hexham. The bridge features squared stone with cut dressings and has a lofty design that spans a ravine. Its side walls are constructed with a noticeable batter, and it has a round-headed arch that is slightly recessed from the wall face. The structure includes flanking pilasters and a band below the parapet, topped with arched coping blocks that are linked by iron clamps. The initials "W.B.B." are inscribed on a slab on the external face of the west parapet.
