Description
The Davison tombstone, located approximately 6 meters south of the south transept of the Church of St. Cuthbert in Marton, dates from around 1795. It commemorates four members of the Davison family who passed away between 1795 and 1851. This tall red sandstone slab measures approximately 72 cm by 120 cm and features a raised moulded border with a wavy head, which is adorned with a garland suspended from stylised flowers at both ends. The face of the tombstone is slightly convex and displays an epitaph in good lettering, also within the moulded border. The tombstone stands on a chamfered plinth and is included for its group value.
