Description
This is a finger post located approximately 90 metres east of Newfield Farmhouse in Bishop Auckland. It dates from the early 20th century and was made by R Mattison & Co. of Bedale. The post is constructed from cast iron and features a fluted base leading to a tall, tapered round post. An indicator is attached to one of two collars at the top, displaying the name "BISHOP AUCKLAND" in low relief sans serif capitals, along with the distance of 4. The post is topped with a ball finial.
