Description

The Gunboat Yard Jetty and Crane, built in 1861, consists of the remains of a boat crane and jetty. The design was created by the Admiralty Works Department, led by Colonel Greene, the Director of Works, and William Scamp, the Deputy Director of Engineering and Architectural Works.

The jetty is constructed from timber, while the crane is made of cast iron. Located at the north end of the gunboat yard, the jetty and crane are positioned between the mean high and low water lines in Haslar Creek.

Currently, the remains of the low jetty are disconnected from the shore and include posts, rails, and a few timbers that form a deck for the crane. Only the base of the crane survives, which still features the drum, gear wheels, and frame.
