Description

This is a farmhouse, dating from the late 16th or early 17th century, built of rubble stone with slate roofs. It has a roughly L-shaped layout, with a brick chimney on a stone base at the north end of the main range, and a wing extending from it. Access is through a lean-to on the west side of the main range. The east side has an irregular pattern of windows; a notable feature is a recessed, chamfered four-light oak mullion window on the first floor, likely dating from the late 16th or early 17th century and fitted with 20th-century glazing. A smaller casement window is above it, and the ground floor has a timber cross-window to the left, with a timber lintel. To the right is a large 20th-century window. A roofless stone lean-to is attached to the north end wall, featuring continuous stonework and a blocked opening. The west front has an earlier 20th-century lean-to with asbestos sheet roofing. A rendered wall covers part of the front.

The southwest wing has a small window above a larger 20th-century window on its north side. The gable end features a small four-pane sash window on the first floor. The south side of the wing has some red brick at the upper southwest corner and red brick jambs for a large 20th-century first-floor window at the centre. An old oak lintel and stone sill frame a 20th-century ground floor window to the left. To the right, the gable end of the main range has been rebuilt in red brick. The first floor has a broad, short six-pane sash window with a cemented lintel, and the ground floor has a 17th-century oak doorway with chamfered jambs and a depressed arched head, set within a square-headed opening with chamfered jambs and a cemented lintel.

A barn at the southeast corner is constructed of rubble stone with a slate roof. It has lean-tos attached to both ends on its north side, as well as a blocked door to the left of centre. The south side has a window, a door, and a double door, all with red brick heads.
