Description
Tyle-gwyn is a roughly L-shaped house, now divided into two separate dwellings. It dates from the 18th century and is constructed of stone rubble, featuring a Welsh slate roof and corniced ridge stacks. The main range presents a symmetrical frontage, with a three-window arrangement of six-over-six pane sash windows. These windows have cambered voussoirs and shallow sills. Similar, deeper windows are found on the ground floor, flanking a central stable-style boarded door with a plain overlight. A projecting cross wing is on the left, displaying a gable end with an attic window in the apex. This section is two storeys high and contains a two-window range of larger sash windows, with rockfaced quoins. To the side of the main range, the windows have later brick surrounds. The rear elevation features three cambered-headed, horned sashes on the first floor, and smaller, similarly arched, altered casements on the ground floor. A high, rear external stack, showing offsets where the two dwellings join, is also evident. The right-hand end of the building shows a different construction, indicated by the awkward angle of the rear wall and the swept eaves.
