Description
The monument to Alice Lloyd is an obelisk located in St Peter's Churchyard, made of dressed yellow sandstone. It stands on a high rectangular base featuring three moulded panels on the front and rear, with the central panels being wider and slightly advanced, while the ends have single moulded panels. The base has a moulded plinth and a flat overhanging capstone, which is moulded on the underside and supports a short obelisk. The obelisk has four panelled faces and is topped with a decorative bell-shaped finial. On the front of the obelisk, there is a roundel depicting a beast in relief, possibly a wolf. The central panel of the base includes an inscription that reads, "Underneath lies interred the remains of Alice Lloyd, the wife of M. Lloyd … in this County who died 19th February 1761, aged 33."
