Description
A terrace of twelve gabled houses was built in the third quarter of the 19th century. The terrace, known as Arthog Terrace, was planned over a long period. The houses are constructed of rubble, with a continuous slate roof, boarded eaves, and brick chimneys featuring a decorative toothed band. The twelve houses are arranged in six pairs, with a central entrance to each pair featuring a boarded door. Each entrance is flanked by original small-pane sash windows; the outer windows have 12 panes, and the inner windows have 16 panes on the ground floor, with 12 panes on the first floor. Each house has a gable above its windows, featuring moulded bargeboards and a central arrow finial. A continuous string course runs above the voussoir lintels of the ground floor windows. Number 6 has later boarded double doors. Numbers 10 and 11 have 20th-century open, trellised gabled porches. Number 12, at the right-hand end of the terrace, has a wider, though contemporary, 12-pane window.
